Mollard
This is a very old grape variety which originated in the Hautes-Alpes. It can still be found in the high valley of the Durance, Gapençais and Embrunais and it would be a descendant of Gouais. In Spain and Portugal, a variety of the same name is cultivated without being able to say that there is a relationship.
The Mollard gives a fresh wine, light, pleasant, with a beautiful garnet color, moderately alcoholic, often with good acidity, pleasant to drink and can be kept a few years.
Aromas of spices (pepper mostly, but also vanilla), ripe red fruit (cherries, plums), tar, toasted bred.
