Dureza
This variety is given as originating in the north of the Ardèche department, but has still a great resemblance with Duras from the region of Gaillac (Tarn). DNA analysis also revealed that Syrah was related to Mondeuse blanche (mother) and Dureza (father).
Italian and Swiss researchers also hypothesize that, firstly, the Dureza (now disappearing) is brother or sister with the Italian grape variety Teroldego and, secondly, that the Pinot noir would be a grandparent.
Dureza gives a very common and colorful wine.
